How We Calculate Phone Prices

This page explains, step by step, how MobilePricecheck turns a phone's launch price into the country-by-country prices you see in our tools.

1. Retail price source

We start from the phone's launch MSRP in USD. For phones that launched earlier, we use the current typical street price. We do not scrape live listings, so prices are reference estimates.

2. Market factor

Each market has a factor that reflects its typical price level relative to the US price. It accounts for local taxes (VAT/GST) and typical import/distribution costs. Example factors: USA 1.00, UAE 0.97, Singapore 1.08, Thailand 1.28, India 1.22, UK 1.20.

3. Currency conversion

Prices are converted at a mid-market reference rate (mid-2026). Your bank or card will add its own margin, so the exact amount you pay may differ.

4. Storage and model matching

Where a storage variant is known, we compare like-for-like (e.g. 256GB vs 256GB). Where not, we use the base model.

5. Landed cost

Landed cost = phone price + shipping + customs/import duty + payment/FX fees. You set the estimates in the tool because they depend on your country, the value threshold and the payment method.

6. Last checked

Each page shows a "checked on" date. Prices change frequently with sales, exchange rates and new launches, so always verify the final price with the retailer.

What is not included

Promotions, bank offers, cashback, trade-in bonuses, insurance and extended warranties are not factored into the reference prices.
